When you're working towards your dreams, it's easy to get so caught up in the doing that you forget the learning. I was having a conversation the other day, and when confronted with a pretty big business blunder, I immediately thought of all the reasons why I couldn't possibly have known the information I should have been hip to.
Do you find yourself doing that often? When we allow our excuses to outweigh our actions, we are essentially blaming our lack of knowledge on everything but our own inability to do ALL of the work. When I was in college, I learned a poem that I seared into my memory:
Today, I'm confronted with the fact that I've made way too many excuses for poor behavior and it's resulted in my sacrificing the A-game for the 'lets just get by' game which rarely leads to real progress.
This week is a great week to begin taking inventory of your excuses. Are you still pursuing your goals, or has life gotten in the way? Are you educating yourself effectively or just flying blind?
For me, I've been putting a lot of time into things I felt just had to "get done" but, somewhere along the line I forgot that I don't know everything and being a student of my craft is just as important as checking things off my to-do list.
No matter the obstacle, or how busy you get with daily life, never lose sight of the tools you need (including humbling yourself and asking for help) to fulfill dreams. This week, I'm challenging myself to write down three things I'm not 100% knowledgeable about in my field. SEO will find itself on that list in big bold letter. My goal is to do my research and create a plan of action based on the knowledge I've gained.
No more excuses. To rise to the top, you've got to do the work. Who wants to join me? 💕
