I love the fact that in the last couple of years it seems everyone has decided to embrace all of the national and international days on the calendar. While we’re not so quick to celebrate EVERY ‘international day of…’, you know we jumped at the chance to celebrate the International Day of Friendship! Why? Because, we are friends that have grown together through the test of time and have even took on the task to collaborate and work together via our Fit Chicks series!
The partnership was inevitable. You see, both Brit and I feel like Meredith and Christina are our spirit animals. Our spirit people. Either way, no shame. None at all. Meredith and Christina worked together and, while we definitely aren’t doctors, it only seemed right for both of our careers to intertwine just the same. Could it be written in the stars? Maybe. Probably. So, in honor of this International Day of Friendship 2016, we give you:
3 Reasons Why (contrary to popular belief) It’s A Good Idea To Work With Your Best Friend
1. They know exactly how to offer you a dose of tough love without getting punched in the face:
Accountability is key in all areas of life, but even more so in a professional setting. When you work with your bestie they know how to have those “come to Jesus” moments with you, while executing them in a way that you will be receptive to….eventually.
2. The Trust Is Already There:
With everything on your plate who has time to go through the whole “trust process”?! I mean, we get enough of that meeting new clients, attending networking events, and in (trying) to forge romantic relationships. Who has the energy!?! That’s why working with your bestie is so cool. When you work together - even on small tasks - the trust is already there. No need to worry whether or not someone has your back - it’s a given.
4. Work Should Be Fun:
As important as it is to take care of business it is equally important to know when it’s time to have fun! Whatever that “fun” may look like. Sometimes it means an impromptu dance party, a collab meeting at your local coffee shop, or a brunch date that you swear was scheduled as a planning meeting but after bottomless mimosas totally turns into a scene from Waiting To Exhale - yea, we’re speaking from experience.
This weekend we encourage you to celebrate your PERSON. Everyone isn’t blessed with the opportunity to truly experience friendship in a way that makes you better. Through the highs and the lows, you know that no matter how much that person may get on your nerves, you wouldn’t want to experience life without them.
Besties everywhere unite.
