This past weekend Nike’s Chi-League Classic took over the Westside of Chicago with their annual summer basketball celebration. Taking place at Whitney Young High School the tournaments were awesome to see whether you were on court or just enjoying the several activations by Nike.
Upon arriving at Whitney Young attendees and Nike+ Members were greeted with a live band while they received their media passes, sign-up sheets, and t-shirts. The first game of the day was a youth basketball game with the Rising Stars followed up by the first pro game of the afternoon. As fans watched the game there were plenty activations by Nike that you would want to see.
There was an on-site barbershop for those who needed a quick lineup or haircut for the evening festivities. For my Chicago people there even was a Harold’s Chicken Trunk on premises just for the culture along with an ice cream trunk and stands where you could get chips, nachos and more.
But the most important part of the activations was the Nike Retail Store where you could purchase some kicks and sportswear including t-shirts, sports bras, shorts, socks, and more. There also was a training aspect where you could try out the new Hyperdunk’s and KD9’s.
While all of this took place the tournament continued into the evening with their tournament style basketball games. It also included a Three-Point Shootout, Dunk Contest, Influencers Game, and of course the championship game that took place Sunday night. The Chi-League Classic will take place again next year in Chicago, so be sure to sign-up via Nike+ to get in on the action.
