On International Women’s Day this year I sat in a room filled with other women who were there to commemorate a day dedicated to celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Nike has been embracing us women this year with their campaign #TheForceIsFemale and that force could be felt. All the attendees were gifted with a totebag that included the new International Women’s Day Lunarepic Flyknit 2, a notebook and pen, a t-shirt with the slogan “The Force Is Female” along with other goodies. We got chance to test out the shoes on 2-mile run with NRC Coach Robyn.
Little did we know that the women on the panel would inspire us and that we would have the chance to have a goal-setting workshop with Tiffany Louise that would help us take a look at ourselves. We listened to the courageous women tell their stories on how they overcame obstacles and didn’t wait for invitations to be great. We learned that one needs to be connected to their purpose and actively achieving goals, which gives us the feeling that we desire. What I learned on this International Women’s Day is we are capable of making changes in our lives and everything we need is within us.
