I can't even believe that we're already into the second week of December. TIME GOES FAST, Y'ALL. Usually around this time of year I boomerang between completely exhausted and ridiculously inspired. With the holidays, parties, preparing for the end of the quarter and more, it seems there really isn't enough time in each day.
I have tons to do - including (and not limited to) planning a Q1 event, making my vision board for 2017 (which I encourage all of you to do, btw), actually utilizing my editorial calendar, setting new goals, and tweaking any goals that fell short in 2016. Basically, I'm eager to end this year on the highest of high notes which is why lately I've needed an extra dose of outdoor exercise to clear my mind and help me refocus on the task(s) at hand.
If you know me, you know that I absolutely adore winter months. I'm originally from Minneapolis so, when there's a slight chill in the air and it's totally appropriate to wear both a sweater and a wool coat - I'm in heaven. I'm also pretty keen on winter months because it's the only time in Texas when I can get in a run outside without collapsing from heat exhaustion. So, when I came up on a few running goodies after heading to Nike HQ back in November, I promised myself I would make good use of them for a solid jog around the lake by my house.
My Nike Women's Dri-FIT Knit is so soft and is super breathable, which is a must for a climate like mine which can change at the drop of a dime. The stretch fabric makes for a run that won't have me adjusting my shirt every five seconds while the thumbhole sleeve help my top stay in place with every step. The top I'm wearing (in Purple Shade/Plum Fog) rings in at $80 USD, but you can grab this one that's super similar for nearly half the price.
These Nike Power Epic Lux Women's Running Tights are also pretty clutch. I did a few sprints and I didn't have to pull them up once. For those of us with smaller waists and larger bottoms, that's always an issue.
I wouldn't call myself a runner but I like to run, jog, or speed walk once or twice a week with Miagi (my miniature Schnauzer) especially if I miss a scheduled workout. Seeing as though running isn't my absolute favorite way to sweat, I need some motivation when I opt to pound the pavement so, for me, music is an essential factor in getting shit done. Those results fall short quite a bit when I'm constantly spending more time adjusting my ear buds than actually getting my run on. I totally used to use the factory joints that came with my phone and, let's just say, FAIL. That all changed when I was gifted with a pair of Powerbeats3 Wireless Headphones. These are so clutch and I'll never go back to standard ear buds again, if I can help it.
Last, but certainly not least, I'm a huge fan of runners that are as comfy as they are cute. This Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 33 Shield Women's Sneaker comes in a dope colorway (!!!) and adds some weatherized updates that'll make running (or running errands) in inclement weather a bit more bearable. I'm also a big fan of Nike's Pegasus because, as a person with a bit of a high arch, it provides enough support that I don't have to add an insert. Winnnnnnninggg.
Let me know your favorite running attire! I'm always down to find stuff I can use everyday AND during a workout.
