Hey folks! I hope you all are having a great week! Personally, I've been a bit under the weather. After a weekend of constant moving and late nights, let's just say life caught up with me and I've been nursing a serious cold. Nonetheless, we've been gearing up for Air Max Day 2017. You'll see some awesome coverage from our trek to Chicago for the festivities in the Windy City, but this is a monumental birthday. We had to make sure we snuck in a Sneaker Diary for the OG Air Max 1 as she finally joins the 30 club.

Nike introduced its patented Air Cushioning Technology in 1979. By embedding Air Cushioning in the midsoles of its running shoes, it changed the way athletes approached and reacted to athletic performance forever. Eight years later, as Nike continued to bring the latest scientific discoveries to footwear design, the Nike Air component became larger – meaning greater cushioning and comfort – and was made visible for the first time in the Air Max 1 which arrived on the scene in 1987.

And, according to our guide at Nike DNA in Portland, the Air Max 1 was the shoe that turned the tide for Nike as a brand. The AM1 became a consumer favorite and bolstered Nike from a runner's delight to a brand in demand for all.

I'm a huge fan of dresses that can work with everything. Versatility is a huge thing around here - but, you already knew that. This BDG Striped Tank Midi Dress is one I nabbed online about 2 years ago and it continues to be one of my favorite go-to's for everything from a day at the office to Sunday brunch and a jaunt around Dallas with the homies. I'm a fan of the BDG line at Urban Outfitters so when I spotted this on sale for $15 bucks, I grabbed it quick. Unfortunetly, this exact dress is no longer available, but I found similar picks here and here.

It's always funny to me when people think I get every shoe I own personally delivered to my door courtesy of the brand. Well, I'm here to say that while I've been blessed with a few pairs, I usually buy my shoes right along with the rest of you. Since I was a toddler when the Air Max 1 came out, this year I wanted to make a point of getting myself a pair of the OG's. Not only due to epic 30 year anniversary but, because it's a CLEAN AF SHOE and, in my opinion, one that any sneaker lover should have in their collection.

BUT Baybay! When it came to getting a pair, that was a different story. I made it a point to mark my reminders on the Nike SNKRS app because I REALLY wanted the AM1 'Game Royal" that came out two weeks ago. Unfortunetly for me (and a lot of people) the shoes sold out in about 3 minutes and I was left a little disappointed. Enter my good friend Google - I searched and was able to locate a reputable reseller on EBAY (shout out to kckrox5) and nab this pair of OGs in a GS size for a super reasonable price.

The moral of this story: don't take no for an answer. LOL. Got my Maxes, y'all.

Now, I'm off to grab some grub before the Air Max Day festitvies begin! How are you celebrating? Let us know!
