Remember when we were swoonin' over the friends and family Millennial Pink Air Jordan 6 courtesy of Aleali May? Get ready because our sister of sole, Aleali, is dropping an Air Jordan 1 this month that has special ties to her roots growing up in South Central LA.
Aleali has a special place in her heart for Jordans. For many of us, collecting Jordans and rocking them while Michael Jordan was on the court was special. For Aleali, wearing Jordans and being able to design her own someday seemed like a dream. Now, it's a dream come true.
This Air Jordan retro 1 is dedicated to her city of Los Angeles, and each texture represents a part of that. The AJ1 is built on grey and black tones as the foundation. The sneaker has various textures that include; corduroy, chenille, and satin. All symbolize childhood experiences for Aleali, that meant something to her. The black corduroy on the upper is noted as a reminder of her father's house slippers he purchased at Cali Swapmeets. The chenille and silver satin detailing is a nod to Kings/Raiders Starter jackets (nostalgic AF). I have to say we love when shoes symbolize a story or hold a place in time that can be kept in a sneaker time capsule forever.
The Aleali May x Air Jordan 1 is set to release worldwide on October 28th in men's AND grade school sizing! A WIN for the small feet tribe. The price tag for grade school should run about $140 USD, and these may be limited so be sure and set you reminders. Stay tuned.
