Nike Drops Their First WMNS Skate Shoe This Year

The Swoosh has been making strides (literally) to be more inclusive of all demographics. From their Equality campaign to the Be True movement and one of our favorites, The Force is Female campaign. We are always excited to champion brands that have the female consumer in mind, and Nike has looked out for us with their next creation.

Nike recently dropped their first skate shoe designed for women. The Nike WMNS SB Bruin High. The brand ultimately listened to insight from Nike SB Pro Skateboarder Lacey Baker, and a multitude of other Nike SB athletes and female skate crews. One of the main concerns was finding a sneaker that fit a women's foot and provided the high performance durability and support. Women around the skateboard game were banking on homemade modifications to secure a better fit in their skate shoes. The voices were heard and that jumpstarted the development of the SB Bruin High.

“The most important thing for me in footwear is a balance of durability, boardfeel, snugness and support. If it's a perfect balance, then I feel the most connected to my skateboard.”

The sneaker features a more sculpted fit along with a shallow forefront and tapered heel. The Swoosh took on an advanced geometric shape which creates a pattern that improves structure and flexibility while being more lightweight. Ultimately, the WMNS Bruin High gives the ladies a snug fit while preventing unwanted movement. A crucial key if you're poppin' ollies on street ledges.

The Bruin packs a vintage aesthetic and boasts a great grip with the vulcanized rubber outsole coupled with a responsive ride. The Air Zoom cushioning helps soften those hard landings. Coming in three colorways, there is something for every cool skater chick.

The Nike WMNS Bruin High is available now at Nike retailers with a price tag of $85 USD. Personally, I can't skate to save my life, but these are pretty fly and easy on the budget. Cop or Can?!
