Cop or Can: Adidas Yung 1
The dad shoe trend is here to stay, and Adidas’ silhouettes are leading the pack this summer. Following the success of their Falcon sneakHER, the brand with the three stripes has finally released the drop date for their highly anticipated Yung 1. The shoe was first introduced earlier this year and instantly became a crowd favorite. This shoe is giving me YEEZY 700 vibes and I’m not mad at it. You can definitely tell the designers took some inspiration from the hyped sneaker. The Yung 1 beautifully merged modern design elements with the sporty silhouettes and fabrications of the 90s.
This retro-inspired shoe is dropping in two bold colorways perfect for summer: “Hi-Res Orange” and “Collegiate Navy/Red.” Inspired by the 1997 Falcon Dorf, the Yung 1 upper features a classic mesh base with a suede overlay that creates an interesting finish. This multi-layer effect is accented with embroidered elements like the trefoil branding on the tongue. The EVA midsole of this sneaker adds comfort and that classic dad shoe chunkiness. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the chunky sneaker trend, but Adidas may have done something with this one. You can check out the modern dad shoe below.
The Adidas Yung 1 is slated to release June 21st at various retailers online and in-store. These are a must cop for me! If you’re feeling these too, you can SHOP THE SNEAKS below on release day for $120 USD.
