Nike’s Futuristic Take On The React
Nike’s special projects design team has revealed a new age version of the traditional runner. Dubbed “The Prequel,” this sneaker was first unveiled at Paris Fashion Week in March of this year. The React Element 87 was the first inspiration behind the react technology. The design team just wanted to perfect a comfortable casual wear sneaker. Nike has been bringing heat since the summer season started (we're lookng at you Air Max 270), and with the release date of these finalized, they aren’t slowing down anytime soon.
The futuristic silhouette is set to have both a Summer and Fall 2018 drop, each with two new color ways. So, if you miss these, you’ll still have another chance! This summer, we can expect to see the “Sail/Rush Orange” and “Anthracite Black” iterations. This shoe’s standout element is the utilization of the React technology. The design team discovered drilling the foam outsole would provide the best comfort and support for all day wear. The translucent upper and exposed stitching adds to the modern feel of this shoe. Deconstruction of the upper reminds me of the Off-White collabs that created major buzz for the brand this past year. This futuristic sneaker is finished with transparent rubber embedded in the outsole that delivers traction and additional support. All these elements combine to create a shoe with an ultramodern aesthetic that you can check out below.
The React Element 87 is set to release in the U.S. on July 13th for $160 USD. These new age runners are comfy, casual and at the top of my wish list. You can SHOP THE SNEAKS below on release day!
Until then...
