The 90s brings back the golden years. Culture was shifting and sneakers and streetwear were in the budding age of brand legacies. Those nostalgic years of our childhoods also bring back the rise of quintessential dad shoes. While they have made a comeback in recent years, they really never left us. The Boston-based runner brand, New Balance, has been around basking in their sneaker lineage that’s truly rooted in quality. They are bringing out an old from the mid-90s that disrupted the norm back then - The New Balance 850.

The New Balance 850 pushed the boundaries of the signature NB design while more than likely causing a buzz with NB purists. As the sneaker still put a focus on standard NB attributes like quality, tech, and performance, there were some considerable differences. First and foremost, the classic ‘N’ on the upper was gone. The wavy design of the upper was constructed using a mix of leather and mesh. The white, black and blue upper is subtly complemented with by yellow gold New Balance branding on the heel and tongue. The ABZORB technology is ever-present as the look comes together on a carbon rubber outsole.

Select retailers released the New Balance 850 on a limited run already, however a more global release is slated for February 2020. With a price tag of $100 and unisex sizing, it may be more appealing to those of us who like to dig through the sneaker archives.
