Cop or Can: A Look At The Air Jordan 1 x Dior Sneaker

Images: Dior

Back in the 80s when MJ was on the court, do you think he ever imagined a collaboration with luxury powerhouse - Dior? We have seen an increasing wave of both worlds colliding with another - luxury and street. A continuous trend of crossover between high fashion and streetwear has propelled the idea of more and more partnerships (we loved the Air Jordan x Vogue Collection BTW). Aligning with the anniversary of our beloved Air Jordan 1 silhouette and the debut of the first US Dior Men’s Collection, the brands are coming together to serve up a limited pair.

The Dior x Air Jordan 1 High will put an emphasis on the integrity of both brands, utilizing premium materials for one. The upper, constructed of fine calf leather, will hold a clean palette of Dior Gray and white. The signature Jordan Wings logo will feature an embossed ‘Air Dior’ as a nod to both brands. The Swoosh is meant to stand out in Dior Oblique jacquard, while the icy translucent outsoles rock co-branded detailing.

We have some questions though. What will the size run look like? What will the real price tag be? The rumors in the e-streets note a pretty penny of $2,000 USD. These are slated to release next year in April 2020. Keep it locked as we get more details and send us a message with your thoughts on Instagram.

UPDATE: 4/2/2020

Welp. It looks like the most expensive shoe Nike has ever produced is getting pushed back - and for good reason. While we weren’t going to be lining up for the Dior Air Jordan 1 (because, bills), it seems a number of folks were ready to shell out $2K for this pricey collab.

However, Nike has since put a halt to the launch amid the global pandemic, issuing the following statement:

“To ensure the safety of all, in accordance with recommendations by public authorities, and in order to reinforce the coordination of international measures, Dior has decided to postpone its international draw for the launch of the Air Dior capsule collection realized in collaboration with Jordan Brand.

This draw includes a chance to win entry to a global network of exclusive Dior pop-up and pop-in locations, whose openings have also been postponed in the context of current guidelines, to protect our customers and collaborators.”

No word yet on when we’ll see the Air Jordan x Dior drop but, chances are it won’t be anytime soon with the pop-up inclusion. We’ll keep you updated though, in case you have $2,000 USD laying around.
