SneakHER Assembly: CNK Editors Chat About The Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Gr82 Boots
We're back with another SneakHer Assembly discussing a silhouette that's fitting for the cooler temperatures. If you're new to CNK's SneakHer Assembly, it is a series where the editors of the round sneakHER table come together to give our candid thoughts on what we like or dislike about a pair. Basically, we are spilling the tea on how we really feel.
With fall SZN upon us, we tend to look for shoes that keep us cozy while meeting our needs for the street. Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars have paid their dues into the library of classic kicks to have in rotation. They also aren’t scared to take you to new heights, pun intended. While this next pair is not necessarily hot off the press, it is a sneaker-boot that you want to check out: introducing the Chuck Taylor All Star GR82.
TICARA: When I first saw these I wasn’t sure how I felt about them and I’m still pretty unsure. I know for a fact that I don’t love them, but I also don’t hate them. The black and gum colorway is pretty solid and I don’t mind how they are styled on the site. They put me in the mind of the military boot trend we seen over the past few years and I think it just comes down to how they are styled! I personally would prefer something that is leather and little more luxury than what these are providing.
CASSIDY: The caught my eye and I have to say I’m not mad at them. I have always been a fan of the utility style sneaker-boot aesthetic, and believe it does what it needs to in cooler climate. I like the black upper with a gum outsole, but am more curious about the comfort. It’s a boot that I can definitely wear casually or out at night with the right top + jacket combo.
TICARA: Again, not my favorite colorway, these aren’t for everyone and certainly not me. I prefer the black over these since I’m not sure how this material is going to look overtime will it yellow? Does it stain easily? These are bold and out there and if you’re going to wear them you better do it right because this can easily lean on the tacky side. Overall, the black would be the pair I picked up if I had to choose.
CASSIDY: The white colorway is not one that I would immediately gravitate towards because…. well it’s white and not leather that can easily be cleaned. While the material looks durable and the black/white contrast could work - I would prefer a black upper. I do like how the drawstrings add some contrast to the white upper, I would opt to do without the straps near the toe box on this pair. Not bad, but not typically my style.
WHAT’S THE VERDICT? If you’re loving this pair, you can SHOP THE SNEAKS below for $110 USD. Unfortunately, the black pair is sold out, but the white pair is available!
