New Balance XC-72 | First Look

New Balance is always paying homage to the past. From their collaborations to their newer silhouettes, elements of the past are always incorporated. The brand takes notes from their own silhouettes from earlier years and takes inspiration from things outside of sneakers. The result is always something eye-catching.

The New Balance XC-72 is a newer silhouette to hit the NB lineup. Originally released back in late August as part of the brand’s ongoing collaboration with Casablanca, the shoe has made it to the brand's permanent roster with the introduction of a few more colorways. Aggressively experimental, the XC-72 reshapes elements from some of NB’s top ‘70s running models into a progressive and modern interpretation. The distinctive, vertically split outsole features traction patterns from the XC15 and 375 that’s separated by the 620’s herringbone pattern. Inspired by the speculative technology behind 1970s concept car design, the XC-72’s unique retro-future design features angular details and a squared off toebox for a unique look. Check out the images of the XC-72 in the ‘Spruce Green’ colorway below for a look at all the details.
