WMNS Lilith NYC "Caudal Lure" | Now Available

Lilith NYC

We love finding new gems in the sneakHER realm, especially if they’re by women for women. A new brand has come across the scene, bringing femininity, power, and luxury into the space. Introducing Lilith NYC, ”a footwear brand for women, femmes, and all underrepresented folks in the sneaker world.” Their story stems from the name itself and aligns with our world today. In some folklore tales and other versions of the Bible, Lilith was the first woman in the Bible and the first wife of Adam. It was told that after problems arose between Adam and Lilith–because of her not wanting to lay under Adam and be submissive to him–she grew wings and left the Garden of Eden. Sarah Sukumaran, Founder of Lilith NYC, brings this narrative into her mission and purpose of the brand because women have had to be forced into the shadows of men in the sneaker industry. Her desire for the brand was to create a space for women to celebrate complexity, embrace their divine feminine energy, and recognize one’s agency to show up as they wish.

Lilith NYC released its first sneaker, Caudal Lure, in two colorways: Concrete Jungle Green and Amberlou Brick. Getting its name from the form of mimicry that snakes use to lure in their prey using their tails, the tail-like Vibram outsole ensures enhanced mobility and performance. The uppers are made of premium pebbled leather, suede, and neoprene. The green colorway is inspired by all things tropical–coconut trees, canopied rooftops in Kerala, and bright-green, bodega awnings. The orange/amber colorway comes from the Amber-colored bricks used by the architect Louis Allmendinger for homes throughout Elmhurst, Sunnyside, and Ridgewood, Queens.
