Last year, Joe Freshgoods and New Balance teamed up to give us a collaboration that was an automatic head turner. Although many of us took an L on release day (an L that we are all still recovering from), that was only the beginning of a creative partnership between the two that served as a teaser of what Joe Freshgoods was capable of. Needless to say, it left us wanting more. Now the duo is delivering a new 990v3 iteration that does not disappoint.

The Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 990v3 is inspired by the west side of Chicago and pays homage to Freshgood’s personal life growing up throughout the 1990s. In an interview with Sneaker Freaker, JFG said that the term ‘outside clothes’ resonates with certain people. He stated 'My mom used to tell me, ‘You smell like outside!’ or ‘Don’t get on the bed with your outside clothes!’ That was a thing growing up. I wanted to focus on what city life was like in the late 90s in urban areas.' Freshgood’s ability to tell stories through his creative designs always draws us in and these 990’s are no different.

The 990’s buttery suede overlays are treated in shades of brown and tan. Shades of bright blue are seen on the ‘N’ logos on the side, mesh underneath and sprinkled throughout the sole unit. Branding on the tongue, lateral heel and spine take on a bright green tone and the same hue seen on the embroidered Joe Freshgoods branding and ‘Outside Clothes’ stamped on the heel. The shoe is finished off with ‘Made for Us’ wording on the heel tab, a message that demonstrates the importance of community for JFG. In an IG post, Joe Freshgoods has said that official images are coming soon but in the mean time, enjoy the teaser image below.

WHEN IS THE JOE FRESHGOODS X NEW BALANCE 990V3 RELEASING?

Sneaker Freaker said that the design was distinctly Joe and we could not agree more. For the time being, there is no set release date but we do know that we can expect a release sometime during the month of July. Knowing how popular JFG designs are, we expect the Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 990v3 to sell out fast. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on any details as they emerge. UPDATE: 8/4/2021

After July came and went without the release of Joe Fresh Good’s anticipated New Balance 990v3 “Outside Clothes”, we’re seeing more movement, more official promo, and announcements from JFG himself regarding the upcoming release of both the 990v3 AND an accompanying clothing line.
