2022 marks the 40th birthday of the Nike Air Force 1 which means Nike is going to keep the Air Force 1 releases coming and we’re not mad about that at all. Currently, we have the Serena Williams x Nike Air Force 1 LXX Zip 'Lapis' to look forward to and the 40th anniversary sneaker I coined the “red velvet”. This go round though, Nike decided to pay homage to the city of Los Angeles with a sneaker that’s boasting a colorway that’s allusive to part of UCLA’s school colors.
No leather here, just a deep blue canvas and twill base that serves as the perfect backdrop for the lighter blue Nike Swoosh. The laces, lining, and soles keep things chill in white so nothing is taking away from the main attraction, which are the assorted patches placed in varying spots. The patches on the shoe were designed to show off the many identities of Los Angeles and they also feature subtle nods to Nike itself. We’re noticing that Nike is trying to up the ante on their women’s releases and we’re not mad at that at all.
