Converse is Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month With Their Mi Gente, Mi Alegría Collection
It’s September 16 today, and that means that Hispanic Heritage Month has officially begun. Beginning September 15 (Central American Independence Day )and ending October 15 of every year, Latinx and Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates the history, contributions, and traditions of hispanics and latinx folks of our past, present, and future. As a Cuban-American myself, this time of year is held especially near and dear to my heart.
Converse is celebrating the month with a new collection of kicks and t-shirts, as they’ve done in years past. Named Mi Gente, Mi Alegría (translation: my people, my joy), this vibrant collection features three versions of our favorite Converse silhouettes: the Chuck Taylor, the Chuck 70, and the Run Star Legacy XC. Vibrant turquoise makes an appearance on a tie-dyed crop tee, throughout the Chuck Taylor and Run Star Legacy XC styles, and finally on the graphics of on an all-cream t-shirt. The Chuck 70 features a gorgeous orange, peach, and mint colorscheme as well as a green-orange-red ombre Converse patch. Perhaps the standout feature of the collection are found underneath the shoe: vibrant, almost neon turqoise bottom soles of the Chuck Taylor And Chuck 70 that read ‘mi gente’ in giant white text.
