Limited Edition Air Jordan 1 Mid 'Women In Flight'

The University of Oregon athletics department is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Title IX passage being brought into law. Title IX was passed in 1972 and it prohibited discrimination based on sex in educational programs with an emphasis on college sports. In honor of the celebration this year, the Women in Flight program is hosting a fundraiser through their campaign “Go Do Anything” to raise money for their women’s sports program. One of the ways that they chose to raise money involved auctioning off a very limited edition WMNS AJ1 mid designed by the GOAT Tinker Hatfield along with Elizabeth Brock-Jones and Kendal Bagby. The design of the shoes is intended to represent three key pillars: the University of Oregon, women’s athletics, and Title IX.
The Air Jordan 1 Mid ‘Women In Flight’ features a colorway that pays homage to the University of Oregon’s school colors. Pops of neon green can be spotted on the outsole, the suede Swoosh, and the inner lining. The base, upper, and lower tabs are bathed in two different shades of teal that really give that neon green something to stand out against. Matching teal colored corded laces fuses everything together. A custom Title IX logo is seen on the tongue designed by Hatfield himself. The Title IX logo is also the same logo that’s engraved into the wooden packaging the shoes come in. Furthermore, the kicks also come wrapped in special paper that has the full legislation printed on it.
Bad news. This one is limited AF. Good news. It’s for a great cause.
One of the two pairs went up for auction on August 1st, 2022 with the bidding coming to a close on August 8th, 2022. The pair of sneaks sold for $10,100 to winner Dr. Ellen Schmidt-Devlin in a women’s size 7. All proceeds from the auction will contribute to the female student-athlete experience through scholarships, team bonding, facilities, coaching, mentoring, and more. There’s no word yet regarding what will happen with the second pair of this limited edition sneaker.
