The Nike Space Hippie Is Made From Trash

As fans of repurposing done right, we’ve been keeping a close eye on what our favorite brands are doing on the sustainability front. After announcing the Nike Move To Zero campaign over the summer, the Swoosh brings a brand new iteration of its Space Hippie 04, one of the most eco-friendly silhouettes from the label’s MTZ roster. After unveiling a “Volt” colorway in July, a sleek “Astronomy Blue” colorway hits the e-streets (and our virtual carts) .

The entire shoe is made from at least 25 percent recycled material by weight, and boasts the lightest weight yet from the Space Hippie line. The “This is Trash” model also boasts the lowest carbon footprint thanks to breathable “Space Waste Yarn” and the shoe’s uppers which are made from 85 percent recycled polyester that’s been sourced from plastic bottles, T-shirts, and yarn scraps. All of this recycled goodness rest atop a light blue Crater Foam midsole that’s been engineered for optimal cushioning and support. The shoe also comes with a shoebox made from re-purposed materials and detailed with plant-based ink. Get a more detailed look below.

The Nike Space Hippie 04 “Astronomy Blue” is available now in both Women’s and Men’s sizing and retails for $130 USD. Tap the button below to shop the sneaks.
