If you’ve been around sneakers long enough, you can appreciate the pairs that transcend into an iconic status. As we embark on celebrating the sneaker holiday “Air Max Day”, we pay homage to our favorite pairs. However, we must understand there is always a beginning and that’s what makes the Nike Air Max family so special. The Nike Air Max 1 was the alpha pair that set it off and an old friend is back.

The WMNS Nike Air Max 1 ‘86 Original ‘Big Bubble’ started it all. The Swoosh decided to truly slice and dice the construction of this classic pair (and they used CT scans). It still carries the red/white/grey color blocking, but the runner brought back the OG design - equipped with the ‘big bubble’ visible Air Max unit. Over time, this element of the sneaker was updated to be much smaller because of the concern that it would crack in certain temperatures. The Nike Air Max 1 released on 3/26 in the 80s and the rest is history. We’re taking it back to where it all started, a piece of sneaker culture to pay tribute to. Check out more snaps below!
