Raf Simons’ Calvin Klein Just Launched an Affordable Sub-label
It’s been two years since Raf Simons first took on the chief creative officer role at Calvin Klein. He’s done some really cool things with the brand like revamping CK Jeans. His latest project creates a sub-label of CK Jeans that combines the brand’s classic Americana feel with streetwear vibes that have been dominating fashion in 2018. Calvin Klein Jeans EST. 1978 offers artfully created pieces at affordable prices, so we can all cop some Raf. The line is the first of many steps to unify the brand under one creative vision. Raf Simons has complete creative control over all things CK and you can really tell with this new line. It experiments with bringing those bold runway prints to the everyday consumer.
The new collection dives deep into those classic American vibes with stars, stripes and Brooke Shields’ silhouette as an all over print. Adding a bit of streetwear edge, there are lots of bold color pops and graphics that remind me of OFF-WHITE. Most of the pieces in the sub-label are unisex with varieties for both men and women. This collection has something for everyone and makes designer a little more accessible. From accessories to outerwear, EST. 1978 has you covered. My favorite pieces from this collection are the Icon Crewneck T-shirt and the EST. 1978 Patch Crewneck Sweatshirt.
The Calvin Klein Jeans EST. 1978 collection is out now and ranges from $30 USD to $450 USD, depending on item. This collection merges the classic American brand with streetwear vibes that we all love and I’m so here for it.
