Would You Cop The Rimowa x Off-White Carry On Collaboration?
We are pretty big fans of Virgil Abloh and the way he has created his own wave by pushing the boundaries of design in fashion and footwear. Recently, we came across a collaboration that had many 'modern travelers' buzzing with opinions.
If you're new to RIMOWA products, let's break it down for you. RIMOWA is a German luxury travel product retailer that has made a strong name for themselves for over 100 years. Their products come with a pretty penny, but RIMOWA is all about quality and creating the best travel solutions for the frequent flyer. Over the decades, RIMOWA has used innovative technology to elevate their brand in a variety of collections while taking pride in quality testing and product guarantees.
A little over a month ago, RIMOWA announced their partnership with OFF-WHITE creating some unique transparent travel cases. This one of a kind case made its debut at Paris Fashion Week before selling out shortly after in an exclusive Euro release. The pieces feature signature OFF-WHITE co-branding and designs. The case dropped with a price tag close to $1000 USD, and per usual - flew off the shelves. Our question is would you cop? Take out the price point, and let us know your thoughts.
Some loyal RIMOWA fans questioned the collaboration, and dismissing the need for "hype". Others felt a clear carry on would really require some strategic packing as everyone would get a view as you roll through security. But that is not much different from the clear backpacks we used to sport as a kid, right? They were pretty cool at the time. Regardless of the opinions, everyone had something to say so the line was at the forefront of consumer minds. At the end of the day, you can't deny Virgil's fresh take on expanding his vision through different platforms. We will keep our eyes peeled for restock info!
