Let’s just be honest: last week has been one big emotional roller coaster. After the murder of George Floyd the nation erupted in justifiable protest. Here at CNK, we’re pretty adamant about our stance on these issues. In case you missed it, you can see what we had to say here. We know that sneakers and streetwear aren’t really top of mind at a time like this which is why we know for us, it won’t be business as usual.

That said, we’re committed to the fight by using our platform to continue highlighting Black voices and creatives with a messages like Kerby Jean Raymond, the storied creative behind Pyer Moss, “My design philosophy focuses on rewriting us back into the story and normalizing blackness,” he said. Below, we’ve compiled a list of 9 brands that are bringing a message to the merch we buy that is absolutely worth the wear.

For this brand, the proof is in the fruit of the product. With a wave of colorfully designed tees, sweats, bags, and even a pair of sweat shorts with a painted watermelon on the crotch (trust us, it’s cute) Fruit (Forever Rooted United Inspired Temples) Mkt is a juicy choice for anyone’s closet.

Chicago is full of talent when it comes to clothing but, no one does it quite like Joe Fresh Goods, Vic Lloyd, and the team at Fat Tiger Workshop. 9. Lonez Scents

We love a good candle and this Houston-based brand majorly lit. While the gift candles with customizated labels and the travel tins are appealing, what really gets us are the “Conversation Candles.” You can choose your scent and then choose a message that speaks to you. At $15 each, it isn’t too difficult to grab a few.
