If there is one thing we love more than dope style that fits our everyday lifestyle, it’s telling a story that we can gravitate towards. With apparel, female consumers lean into the need for functionality but that doesn’t mean that we have to forego style to get there. Coming off the heels of the Modern Apparel story, Jordan WMNS division is back with more FYE for us. With this capsule, we get a look behind the scenes to understand how the NYC Collection is about more than just cool style.

Inspired by the ‘round the clock hustle of New York, Jordan Brand elevated the brand story by tapping some familiar faces that we stan on our daily social media scroll. Our girl from Queens, Alissa Nevita, has been in the game flourishing in sneaker/streetwear marketing. Germany Lancaster is showing love the Brooklyn way as an art director who founded Black Girl Beach Day. Kia Marie is another trailblazer from Brooklyn who is a stylist and content creator in the sneaker space and beyond. All of these ladies were photographed by THE Raven B. Varona who hails from the Bronx and is well-known for celebrity portraits and tour photography (Hello! Beyonce!).

The Jordan woman is about strength as well as authenticity. Personal style can take you to a familiar place and the roots of your geographic location can play an integral role in connecting those dots. The NYC Collection features pieces that are easily transitioned between home and work, on-the-go and chill AF. As women, we need essentials and we preach functional style.

The NYC Collection includes a hoodie, tops, shorts, utility pants, dress, windbreaker and the popular flight suit. With all of the dope ladies featured, the pieces pay homage to what they may be wearing at any hour of the day in the city that never sleeps. Even the reflective graphics are a tribute to NY’s subway system. When it comes to sneakHER style, the apparel can be mixed and matched as staple pieces in your closet rotation. The color palette of blue, pink, black, and white is another nod to how easy we can move between seasons for long-term wear.

I’ve been a fan of the Jordan WMNS aesthetic, because the focus on functionality and versatility really resonates with me.
— Alissa Nevita

Building on community and the real ladies that are in them is what Jordan Brand is doing very well.
