Nike (M) Brings Sportswear Staples Just For The Mamas

Let’s be honest: the sportswear world has a very narrow view of what women need from their athletic apparel. While we’ve seen strides in the right direction with inclusive lines like the Performance Hijab, Plus Size, Nike Victory Swim and Yoga for Every Body collections, most brands don’t always think about a demographic that continues to grow each year: moms.

The timeline of motherhood doesn’t stop at nine months. In fact, for the many women who have two or three children (on average), the journey navigating motherhood from pre-pregnancy, pregnancy and postpartum can be up to 10 years.

Recognizing the need for clothing that could grow with a woman in each stage of her motherhood journey, Nike introduced Nike (M), a dedicated maternity line that is both sustainable and designed specifically for women before, during, and after pregnancy.

Whether you’re mom now, plan to be, or are looking for something specifically for your favorite mom-to-be, get more info on the NIke (M) collection below.

A project that began 3 years ago, Nike (M) brings sport science to maternity apparel. With an emphasis on style and performance, Nike (M) is bringing new and needed apparel options to moms and moms-to-be.

The line was conceived, led and inspired by moms and moms-to-be on the Nike design team who applied data from over 150,000 body scans of women around the world to determine how the body grows during pregnancy. The team also worked closely, throughout the design process, with 30 female athletes who were either pregnant or post-partum to listen to their needs and gather their input and ideas. These included elite and everyday athletes.

What Is NIKE (M)?

Before finalizing Nike (M), Swoosh designers tested 70 materials before narrowing it down to 9 palettes for use across the 4 styles in the line.

In addition to attention to detail, the collection also exhibits a certain commitment to sustainability. The tight utilizes recycled bronze material, composed of about 83% recycled polyester. The tank is composed of about 88% recycled polyester, and the jacket cover is composed of about 78% recycled polyester and 10% organic cotton. Additionally, the lifecycle wear of each piece allows women to wear them interchangably throughout each stage of pregnancy and postpartum.

The Collection

Every product detail is designed to adapt to a woman’s changing body before, during and after pregnancy.

The tight contains Nike’s stretchiest fabric with a wide waist band that grows comfortably with her and folds down postpartum. The contour adapts to her changing body maintaining a flattering shape through all nine months and beyond.

The Tight

Easy access for nursing and pumping moms in across the collection

The bra adapts with the body effortlessly with an elastic rib band slider. Its sweat-wicking materials and extra padding offer support and moisture management for post-pregnancy and newborn nursing demands. The inside panel can accommodate a nursing pump.

The Bra

The tank is made with all over four-way stretch to grow with her and contains Dri-Fit wicking materials for breathability and coverage. The easy scoop neck allows for easy nursing.

The tank, bra and tight were stretched upwards of 17 hours to their 100% max to ensure the fabric recovered to its original form.
