Nike Honors NFL Greats With New Kick-Off Campaign
I've been waiting to pull out my Purple and Gold Vikings jersey for a hot second and now, the time has finally come. Each NFL season, we're greeted with the same excitement. New season, new plays, new stars emerging from the ranks. We're also reminded of the past and the nostalgia that continues to honor those who cemented our love as spectators. Regardless of the origin, these players hold a special place not only in the history books, but also in the communities that champion their respective teams.
Ahead of NFL kickoff, Nike celebrates past legends and the duality that is football glory. The jersey, a staple both for player and fan, is a symbol of far greater significance for a city and an overall love for sport. Essentially, putting a team on your back and saying it with your chest.
Nike rolls out a campaign honoring a roster of NFL icons, including Lawrence Taylor, Joe Namath, Jamal Anderson, Andre Rison, Gale Sayers, Ladainian Tomlinson, Aaron Donald and Jarvis Landry.
"LT was really ahead of his time. He did a phenomenal job of always staying true to who he was," explains current Giants star Odell Beckham Jr. of the appeal of his franchise's legendary linebacker.
Even us girls are getting in on the football fun as model and LA-native Alexis Mackenzie dons Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson's number, 21. And, our homie Shavone C. keeps it cute in a drop for Nike Los Angeles in Melvin Gordan's number, 28.
