Designer Sandy Liang is teaming up with Vans for a new collection, and we pretty much swooned when we got our hands on a few pieces. Debuting February 21, Liang leans into her signature flair for mixing prints, colors, and textiles and applies it to Vans’ iconic silhouettes. Add a slew of covetable clothing and accessories and we were pretty much in permanent smile mode when our bag arrived.

The designer, who is known for taking inspiration from her Bayside, Queens hometown, as well as the treasured art of the hand-me-down has channeled a vibe that makes us wax nostalgic for the 90’s era we grew up in.

“To see my ideas come to life on such an iconic collection of footwear and apparel is a dream come true,” said Sandy Liang in a press release. “This collection embodies the playful dreaminess of the nineties, as well as the grittiness of downtown New York City.”

Materials are a key competent in this collaboration. Everything from snow-leopard fur Vans Platform Slip-Ons to pink velour Old Skool sneakers decorated with metal jewelry and custom Sandy Liang laces will make a detail-lover take note.

On the clothing and accessories front Liang and Vans hit the nail on the proverbial head with long sleeves, detailed hoodies, signature socks, a fanny pack that is one of the best constructed we’ve seen, and a solid jumpsuit that just screams for a place inside our closets. While I would have preferred a five-panel cap to the polka dot bucket hat, I know that if that’s my only complaint, the collection is pretty darn complete.

The collection perfectly encapsulates Liang’s design element while still incorporating Vans’ classic feel — plus, the limited-edition collection is at a far more accessible price point than her typical pieces, ranging from $14 - $199 USD. The collection launches online and in select Vans retail locations beginning Feb 21, 2020.
