MEET VERONICA BONILLA. BK REPRESENTA’. SNEAKHER AFICIONADO. VINTAGE VIBE CURATOR. STYLISHLY STREET. SELF LOVE ADVOCATE.

At CNKDaily, we are always working to create an inclusive platform of positivity within the sneaker community, because honestly we need more of it. Empowering through common bonds, creating opportunities, and highlighting a diverse group of women birthed the foundation of our Chick Chat Series. Instagram has connected us with many amazing boss babes, and today we get to introduce our CNK Crew with one that embodies the principles of Chickspiration.

Veronica Bonilla doesn't really require any introduction because her sneakHER style and social media presence had many of us turning on our post notifications from jump. You may recognize her as Brooklyn Petite on the 'gram, but her messages are larger than life (and her height). With a concentration on body positivity and style versatility, Veronica has an effortless way of putting looks together (and is a great place to find OOTD inspo).

In our latest Chick Chat, Veronica dishes on her humble beginnings, her style blueprint, and the brand that's paving the way in her eyes. Vibe with us as we get to know more about this sneakHER fashionista in her own words below.

THE 411 ON VERONICA…

Im Veronica Bonilla, I am 25 years old. I grew up in Marcy Projects Brooklyn, NY. My love for sneakers started in my hood. I use to see all the cool kids wearing the latest kicks [mainly Jordans] and I would feel so bummed out that I couldn’t be like them because we were poor. Therefore, asking my mom for $100 was a scary thing for me, especially for some kicks. Once I got my first job it was HERstory from there!

CONCRETE JUNGLE WHERE DREAMS ARE MADE OF…

I’m so blessed to be from New York! It’s the birthplace of sneaker culture. We’re all about comfort here, we took something that was once considered sport shoes and made them into everyday shoes. I like the fact that I can wear a power suit or a dress with sneakers and feel chic and comfortable at the same time.

GETTING REAL ABOUT SOCIAL MEDIA NOISE…

I just stick to what I know best, which is being ME! When I first started on social media I thought I had to look, speak, and dress like every other influencer that was out there in order to be taken serious and get the numbers. The only way I can stay focused is just reminding myself of how far I’ve come in life in general and how much of what I’ve went through made me the women I am today.

VERONICA ON HOW SHE WANTS HER BROOKLYN PETITE PLATFORM TO LEAVE A FOOTPRINT…

Always be your true self no matter what. To wear whatever makes you happy and don’t let the opinions of others determine that for you. [AMEN!]

So stay authentic, figure out what your message is and stick to that. Your IG family will continue to grow organically.

STRATEGIC SNEAKHER STYLE + TIPS

I always start from the bottom and work my way up, I find it easier that way for me. It also all depends on my mood that day, like there’s days where I wanna be laid back so I’ll put on my Nike Cortez; or If I’m feeling like making a statement I’ll grab my Air Jordan 1’s or Nike Teknos. Side note: Nike cortez are great with a 2 piece suit!

[Vero's style = Comfort, casual, edgy]

#1 Graphic tees are always a great idea with sneakers.

#2 Crop wide legs are perfect for Air Jordan 1’s.

#3 You also can never go wrong with a dope jacket.

Bonus: My 4th tip would be confidence!

HEY BRANDS! CHECK YO’SELF…

Mannnn NIKE is straight up killing the game! They way they represent women all of color, religion, shapes and sizes is amazing to me! I think ALL sneaker brands need to follow their footsteps.

VERONICA ON WHAT SNEAKHER CULTURE MEANS TO HER…

Family! I like the fact that there’s a culture for women who feel comfortable and powerful in a pair of sneakers like me. That I’m finally part of something that welcomes me with open arms and that won’t judge me for the types of sneakers I wear. I grew up poor and got made fun of for wearing the same sneakers everyday. I wear my Nike Air Max 98 almost everyday and thank God nobody cares [LOL].
