Sneaker Diary: Paris, Jumpman, and the Air Jordan 1

One thing I love about summer is the opportunity to go crazy with neon colors, pastels, and bright whites (even though I'm clumsy AF and will probably spill something on myself before the day is over.)

I'm also firm in my belief that simple/classic pieces can really elevate a look and give you the biggest bang for your buck. As I've gotten older (and more conscious of my monies) I've found that investing in staple items, like a satin skirt, a classic white tee, and a good pair of white sneaks; really does mean that you can be fashionable and financially conscious.

That mindset definitely came in handy as I prepared to join Jordan Brand in Paris for Men’s Fashion Week and the unveiling of their latest collections. I opted to keep my fits simple so they easily mixed and matched which was awesome for those on-the-go moments and made it pretty easy for me to travel to a whole other country with just a carry-on. Kinda proud of that, ya’ll. LOL.

On our final day of festivities, I opted to keep it light for the Jordan Women panel with Aleali May and Maya Moore. In all honesty, I wasn’t expecting Paris to be as warm as it was so, it was really nice to slip on a satin skirt and a light cotton tee for a look that didn’t leave me feeling like I needed to book it back to the hotel for a shower.

As I was in Paris to celebrate the Jumpman it was only right to bring rock an OG to the party with a crisp pair of Air Jordan 1s. While I’m not a huge AJ 1 collector (I’m more of a 3, 7, and 12 girl), these babies are a pretty special pair in my collection thanks to their bright white uppers, the hint of pink swoosh, and gold accents. I can’t get enough of them. If you’re looking for an all-white AJ 1, I highly recommend adding a pair to the rotation. They’re muted enough to wear with pretty much anything, but classic enough to stand out in a simple outfit, like a Canadian Tux or a black romper.

I absolutely loved my time in Paris and I’ll definitely be back. I also fell in love with satin skirts and I’ll be copping a few more in other colors thanks to all of the options on ASOS. The midi options (which, at 5’6”, fell to the middle of my shin) were perfect for me but, I’m hoping to grab a few with side splits because, Texas and I need all the breathable clothing I can get. I’ve linked a few of my favorite options (along with everything I wore up top) below.
