As we enter the second half of 2020, the majority of us are reflecting on the fact that the current climate is not exactly what we pictured on our vision boards.  In many ways, we are asking ourselves how can we make a difference in our respective communities?  Regardless if you work in a corporate setting or a creative space, you can be a catalyst for positive change by building community.  This is especially true in the sneaker community as we continue to connect the dots with a common thread - our love for kicks.

Sneakers are a big business, but the game isn’t new.  With added National unrest, we are all taking a few extra moments to see what retailers are doing with pandemic response and support for our Black communities.  With that on the forefront of the sneaker game, we are finding ways to create unity while still elevating and empowering others to do the same.  One of those initiatives is Sneaker Census.  A grassroots collective that gives us a true FUBU (For Us, By Us) moment and is honestly important AF.  Get to know Sneaker Census in their own words below.

1 | The 411 On Sneaker Census

The Sneaker Census is a localized data collection platform, designed to give members of the sneaker community an accentuated voice and influence in sneaker culture.  The platform is designed to unite our sneaker communities that live within our neighborhoods, towns, cities and countries.

2 | Houston We Have A Problem… And A Solution

The first stop for Sneaker Census is Houston, Texas.  Being led by a collaboration of TOP sneaker and tech industry executives as well as grassroot community leaders and influencers - all people of color - the Sneaker Census strives to collect vital information generated directly from the kicks society in order to create and implement campaigns that feed right back into the under served sneaker communities & cities.

3 | More Than Your Average Survey

A short survey will launch on July 10th filled with questions about their individual sneaker interests including what their favorite brands are and what they are looking for from sneaker corporations.

Once data is collected, the Sneaker Census team will implement campaigns and strategies based around the collected information, stemming from the voices of the sneaker communities.

4 | A Not-So Secret Sneaker Society

Once you become a part of the Sneaker Census, you are entered into a society where your interests will be heard all while creating a space to incite and spark new interests amongst the Sneaker Census community.
