CNK at Home: Creating Your Space with Jordan Brand

How are you working from home? For me, everything from what I have in my space to what I wear for my daily trip to the living room has become about trying to create a space that is conducive to getting things done and not taking a nap every two hours.
In the time before Covid, I was adjusting to working from “home”, aka the coffee shop down the street, after leaving my 9-5. There’s something about sitting at the table, just you, your latte, and your laptop that produces incredible focus for me. Fast forward to today and I haven’t talked to a barista in months. I’ve had a real epiphany about what’s working in my space and what is not. For me, quarantine has resulted in a lot of changes in the way my home works for me. I’m realizing what I need and what don’t and I’m slowly adding and removing things that will help me adjust to this new normal. The same goes for my clothes.
In the first few weeks of this post-Covid life, I legit wore the same pair of sweatpants four times in one week. I didn’t really know how to function but I knew that spending the day on my couch working in jeans was not my ministry. I did spring cleaning. I went and cleaned out all of my closet and drawers, labeled everything, and went through each and every single item that I possess and just kind of assessed whether or not I need to keep things. I threw a lot of stuff out, and I replenished my closet with a few basic things that I could easily wear inside and outside (mask on!) my humble abode.
So, when Jordan Brand reached out to have us try their unisex 23 Engineered collection I knew that it would be a chance to add some high-quality gear to my wardrobe that would function both in the house and on my weekly trips to the grocery store.
I live in Texas. It gets HOT HOT. So, for me, a good pair of shorts is as important as a well-organized shoe closet. But as a woman with thighs, it has always been a struggle for me to find shorts that I can live in without feeling self-conscious.
The Jordan 23 Engineered Utility Short was a pleasant surprise and has easily become a staple in my weekly ventures outside. I’ve always been a bit unsure about cargo-style shorts because those thighs again, but the pockets here are a beautiful touch and allow me to slip my keys or phone in for quick and easy access. The shorts are made from woven nylon so they are incredibly light and breathable. A stretch waistband and front-exit drawcord make it easy to fit these to my waist without discomfort.
If you know me or have joined a Zoom call with me in the last 5 months, you know that I love a good sweatshirt. In fact, since Covid struck I wear one virtually every day. When I initially saw this 23 Engineered Fleece Hoodie I thought it would be reserved strictly for cooler nights on my balcony but, it is surprisingly well suited for a few hours of work in my living room or a Sunday drive outside the Dallas city limits. The plush, flexible fleece fabric feels soft, stretchy, and is super easy to move in. Added bonus: this sage color is very pretty in person.

Alright, so, can I be honest? Sitting in my bed is not the best for my work ethic. Seeing as how I easily like my bed more than I like some people, it’s a pretty important friend in my life. After a few months of using it to hold conference calls, Zoom meetings, and go to town on my computer, I realized that getting my home office space in order was a top priority. If you’ve seen my IG stories you have witnessed the beginning of this process. And, while I’m still waiting on my desk thanks to DHL being a certified hater, I’ve already gotten started making the space my own.
Lucky for me, I’ve been able to hang shelves and put together rolling cabinets rather comfortably in these cozy sweatpants. The 23 Engineered Fleece Pant is one of my favorite things from this collection because they are quite simply two pants in one. With full zippers down the side seams, I can easily zip them up for a tighter feel or zip them down for something a bit roomier. The stretch-knit fabric makes movement easy and Stone Mauve colorway pretty much goes with anything, including our CNK Summer 20 JDY Crew. Told you I live in sweatshirts.

These last few months have really made me understand how important it is to create your space with intention. It’s important to surround yourself with good energy and words that remind you who you are and what you desire. Even more than staying cozy, my at-home mental health has been a top priority. I love slipping into sweats and getting my work done but, I love my space even more. I love knowing that I can be myself here, I can run my business here, I can learn and grow here. I never thought I’d say this but, the coffee shop has nothing on home.
