Here in Texas, we know a little bit about things being true to size. The whole notion of everything being bigger in the Lonestar State is largely accurate, so, when we headed down 35S from Dallas to Austin in order to set eyes on the latest JD Sports location in Barton Creek, we had an idea that it might be a Texas-sized experience — and we couldn’t have been more right.
Located in a revamped mall stationed in hill country and just outside the heart of the Texas Capital, JD Sports Barton Creek is a behemoth of a store. At over 4,000+ square feet, the newest addition to the JD Sports family features ample space for everyone to find what they need in everything from apparel and accessories to kicks.
But, for us, this particular JD Sports location signaled a welcome change we haven’t quite seen yet from big box retailers. Upon arrival, we not only noticed well spaced a curated sections for men, women, and kids but, we noticed an elevated and amplified women’s section right in the middle of the store immediately. Basically, you couldn’t miss the WMNS.
With 6-8 large displays and shelf space featuring sneakers specifically for her as well as a variety of brands to appeal to a vast customer base, it’s safe to say that at Barton Creek, ladies are no longer being forced to settle for shopping experiences that are second to the men’s section. In addition to the shelf space for women, the Kid’s sections were also quite vast with 4-6 dedicated shelves housing everything from GS favorites to picks for your toddler.
While the sneaker side was absolutely impressive, we’ve got to say this JD Sports location nailed it with their apparel. From Nike activewear and lifestyle picks to adidas apparel, their own in-house brand of activewear, and a special Mitchell & Ness section just for the ladies who love basketball, JD Sports Barton Creek had me absolutely grabbing everything I could and heading straight to the fitting rooms. Plus, for those of us on a budget (read: everyone), I was pleasantly surprised at how many items were on sale and priced incredibly. All in all, I left with 8 items totaling $250. For pieces I can wear again and again, that’s a steal. Shop my picks below!
All in all, the trek to Austin to help JD Sports usher in a new era at Barton Creek was well worth the Saturday drive. If you’re in Austin, we encourage you to visit and grab some gear. Thank you to JD Sports for having us. We’re sure we’ll be back!
