SneakHer Assembly: CNK's Editors Chat About The Women's Nike Vandal

See this content in the original post

Did you think we would stop at giving our opinion on just ONE sneakHER? Last time, the SNEAKHER ASSEMBLY dished out our thoughts on the controversial Jordan 1 Rebel silhouette, and your favorite editors are back and ready to share our thoughts on one of the latest sneakers from the Swoosh. We're talking about the Nike Women's Vandal 2K. If you saw these pop up on the SNKRS app, you probably took a second look because these bad boys are just THAT out there! We thought we would go ahead and share our thoughts with our CNK Crew because we all are family and sharing is caring, right? RIGHT. If you want to know what Cassidy and I initially thought of these sneaks, continue reading below.

TICARA: These are very interesting, when I first saw them on the SNKRS App I was a little shook. I initially didn’t know what to think of them but I knew I didn’t hate them right off back. I was a little surprised to see them use the colorway from an original Nike Vandal and you guys know how I am when it comes to using OG colors on new products (ha ha ha). But, they just remind of the sneaker version of the platform sandals from a few summers ago and I kind of like them. A stylish chick can definitely pull these off.

CASSIDY: While I can appreciate a bold design, and I grew up in the Spice Girls era - this is a NO GO for me. The colorway is not the issue because I actually like how they applied them, reminiscent of the OG silhouette back from the 80’s. The issue is this double stacked platform sole. You may think that I could benefit from some extra height at only 5’2, but this does not compliment my stature. These remind me of moon shoes, sorry.

ON TO THE NEXT COLORWAY...

TICARA: This might sound weird but they remind me of Double Stuffed Oreo’s or something. But, I actually like the red colorway than these. If you’re going to wear the stacked sneaker then go bold or go home. This colorway is safe and I don’t hate it either. The only question that really comes to mind for me is this a shoe that I’m going to reach for next year? And the year after? I dont’ really see these having a place in my wardrobe and that’s why I didn’t buy them. But I’m excited to see the looks from the ladies in these!

CASSIDY: The black colorway is no different for me when it comes to a COP or CAN decision. While I do like these colors together, I don’t like them on the bride of Frankenstein-esque triple stacked platform sneakHER. I won’t knock the bold designs that brands are releasing because we do want to continue to think out the box (pun intended), but I am just not able to get into this popular trend of platform kicks. When I first saw these on the SNKRS App, I was immediately turned off because they were created as a GIF that showed the soles growing (I actually thought it was a joke for starters). On other girls’ feet - they don’t look half bad but on mine? It’s still a no go sis.
