Nike Sisterhood Collection | Release Information
Fire sneaker releases always excite us, but when we see WMNS only that really catches our attention. However, often times we find the WMNS sneaker department is still lacking. It seems the design behind WMNS only sneakers doesn’t get the same attention as unisex sneakers. Here, we dive into a Nike collection that serves as an example of both the do’s and don’t’s of reinterpreting classics.
The Nike Sisterhood Collection is a WMNS only footwear capsule that aims at reinterpreting 3 classic silhouettes - the Nike Blazer Mid ‘77, the Air Force 1 Low, and the Air Jordan 1 - through incorporating technology for additional comfort and adding feminine detailing. The Nike Blazer Mid ‘77 comes in both black and white and features a leather upper with mini silver Swoosh details on the white pair, mini gold Swoosh detailing on the black pair, and game royal hued branding on the tongue and heel. The Air Force 1’s are also constructed of leather, come in both black and white, feature similar silver and gold mini Swoosh detailing, and game royal hued branding on the tongue and heel tabs. 2 Air Jordan 1’s will also be releasing - the Air Jordan 1 Zoom and the Air Jordan 1 Mid - and will come in a retro Game Royal colorway. The AJ1 Mid incorporates exaggerated stitching on the side panels while the AJ1 Zoom has mesh detailing on the Swoosh and silver studs sprinkled throughout.
While we’re excited to see the Air Force 1 and Nike Blazer Mid ‘77 in a WMNS only iteration that puts a feminine twist on a classic, the AJ1 options have us feeling a little disappointed. In our opinion, Jordan Brand should have taken notes from the ‘Satin Black Toe’ that released in Summer 2019 and kept this Jordan retro color way more on the classic side. Ladies, I think I speak for all of us when I say we love classic Jordan colorways just as they are and additional bells and whistles aren’t always necessary. Nonetheless, you can cop each pair from the Nike Sisterhood Collection on 10/15. You can cop the Air Jordan 1 Zoom exclusively on the SNKRS app for $150 USD while the Blazers, AF1’s and AJ1 Mid can be purchased via Footlocker for $110 and $125 USD, respectively.
