Nike By You Taps Jade Macpepple-Jaja For Their Latest Drop
Nike By You aims at providing creatives with a platform where they can tell their story in a bold new way. Their latest string of releases called on London creatives to reinterpret some of Nike’s classic silhouettes. Within that crew is Jade Macpepple-Jaja AKA the Street Lawyer. Macpepple-Jaja is a woman of many facets who’s interest in fashion and sneakers have remained while pursing her law career. Her design took inspiration from the “strength and beauty of Black women, with the gradient of colors representing the various forms and shades of that beauty.” Not only that, but her iteration of the Air Max 95 aims to share her story and to raise further awareness regarding inclusion, true diversity, as well as equal opportunities for Black women that span all industries. As if all this weren’t enough, a portion if the proceeds will be donated to Black Minds Matter UK, a platform dedicated to supporting the Black community through therapy and mental health resources. It reminds us all that we must continue to feed our dollars into products and initiatives that support the Black community.
Macpepple-Jaja took all of these inspirations and designed a fire Air Max 95, which she dubbed the “INC.” The shoe features an overall earthy tone with layers of white, cream, pastel pink, and tan wrapped around each shoe with splashes of black on the upper for contrast. The shoe is finished off with a white sole and transparent Air unit for a clean look that can be dressed up or down. Scroll through the snaps below to take in all of the details.
