Kasina x Nike Air Max 1 | First Look
South Korea sneaker authority Kasina partnered with Nike during the fall of 2020 for a gorgeous Dunk Low duo. The street fashion boutique collaborated with the Swoosh to create two sneakers that reflects travel in South Korea. Inspired by vintage buses and big city transit, this colorful release paid homage to the 80’s population boom across South Korea. Now, Kasina and Nike have paired up for a second passion project: two new versions of the Air Max 1.
Soft suede, pony hair, and buttery leather come together in this texturally-rich sneaker. Color-blocked in burnt orange, maroon, blue, and deep teal, the Kasina Air Max 1 took inspiration from wood-carved mandarin ducks called kireogi. Commonly given as wedding gifts, these wedding ducks (given in pairs) symbolize faith, devotion, and fidelity. The kireogi theme reflects the marriage between Kasina and Nike, celebrating the upcoming 25th anniversary of Kasina as well as the 35th anniversary of the Air Max 1. Wood lace dubraes and a flowery swoosh carry this theme throughout the shoe, while the mandarin duck hang tag steals the show. A second colorway is expected, but no details have been shared about the palette just yet.
