Reggaeton artist J Balvin is having one hell of a year. He just recently blew the stage away during his performance at the 2022 VMA’s, he’s scheduled to perform at the 2022 NFL Kickoff Experience Concert in Long Beach today, and last but not least he’s back with another collaboration with Air Jordan. The design of J Balvin’s Air Jordan 1 was full of life as it was decked out in a rainbow hue and featured his synonymous smiley faces. The shoe sold out within minutes worldwide and we expect nothing less with this new collection. This time around though, we have more ground to cover as the collection features two pieces of footwear, apparel, and accessories.
Footwear in the collection include an Air Jordan 2 and a Super Play Slide. The Air Jordan 2 starts with a Celestine Blue puffer base. Clear skies are ahead in the cloud graphics around the heel, collar and insole. Subtle rainbow stitching is seen throughout the sneaker and J Balvin’s signature smiley face can be spotted on the heel. The wings logo on the tongue also light up when pressed (on the adult sizing only)*. The Super Play Slide includes the same puffer panels with the cloud graphic backdrop against a green glow in the dark underfoot. Also present is the rainbow stitching and J Balvin’s logo’s of smiley faces and brains which are a nod to mental health awareness.
Balvin told Complex Magazine “Everything I do has to tell a story. I talked to Nike about how I wanted to reflect my mental health journey in a creative way. We discussed how I had to overcome walking through dark moments to find the light. That’s where we came up with the concept for this sneaker. I wanted it to be reflective of how you jump towards the light and your dreams and elevate yourself to get through the dark situations in life.”
Apparel in the collection consists of a varsity jacket, hoodies and a crewneck with matching shorts decked out in the cloud graphic highlighted on the footwear, fleece pants, and graphic tees. The accessories include a basketball, an adjustable hat, and crew socks.
When can I shop the J Balvin x Air Jordan Collection?
The J Balvin x Air Jordan Collection will release via the SNKRS app on September 15th at 9am CST. The Air Jordan 2 adult sizing will retail for $300 USD while the little kid’s sizing will go for $100 USD and toddler sizing for $80 USD. The Super Play Slides are $70 USD and prices for the apparel and accessories will range from $14 USD to $500 USD. Plan accordingly because we know this collection will sell out quick!
