Brand 'Ye Wo Krom' Celebrates Ghanian Culture With Their Shoe + Apparel Collections
At CNK Daily, our passion for sneakers and street style goes beyond the aesthetics. Great sneaks have stories woven into their fibers and are created with a vision and intention. For great designers, these pieces become an extension of themselves. For designers like Eddie Oppong, fashion is personal.
Chicago-based poet, artist, and designer Eddie Oppong celebrates his heritage and love for Ghana with his apparel and footwear collections. The name of Oppong’s brand, Ye Wo Krom, directly translates to “we’re in town”; a popular Ghanian saying, it means “we’re out here”.
Oppong’s most notable (and stunning) creations are his remixes of Converse All-Star Chuck Taylors. The Ye Wo Krom: Episode Two collection is the second installment of Oppong’s ode to Ghana through fashion. This drop includes four soft knit tees and a new Chuck Taylor design from Eddie himself. The tees feature the red, yellow, and green Ghana flag with “Ye Wo Krom” written in curly, vintage text. Oppong’s newest Chuck Taylors come with a soft black canvas upper and cream soles. “Ye Wo Krom” is written on the outside of each sneak and an “Eddie 4 Ghana” patch is detailed on the inside ankle.
