For women of color, specifically Black women, the beauty shop and supply store felt like a sanctuary growing up. We would spend hours listening to grown Black girl magic conversations in beauty shops and stroll the aisles in the supply stores. Some may consider the beauty shop chronicles as a form of self-care. Understanding this nostalgic narrative, Beth Birkett created Bephies Beauty Supply in March of 2020. The online retailer became a space carved out to bring the elements of community to the masses while highlighting women of color in her exclusive marketplace. She came to shake up beauty and fashion and we love it.
Beth isn’t new to making a mark in the male-dominated arena of sneakers and streetwear. She has an extensive resume of creative direction, styling and costume design. Did we mention she’s also the co-founder of staple LA streetwear brand Union? Yes, that one. Bephies Beauty Supply has been a labor of love with it’s rise during the pandemic and a new collection is here to shop.
The Bephies Beauty Supply Cameo Sweatshort and Stamp Hoodie keep us extra cozy and feature a brown marble aesthetic. The BBS Sweatshort sit at mid length and have a cotton fleece construction with elastic waistband. The signature Bephie Girl graphic sits on the leg in chocolate puff print.
