Wrangler Celebrates 75 Years with Archival Reissue Collection + Leon Bridges Collaboration
Our obsession with the American West isn’t going anywhere. Maybe it’s the expansive landscapes, or the starry skies, or the rough-and-tumble nature of cowboy culture, or the fact that it’s wholly unique to the United States and nowhere else; whatever the draws are, the aesthetics of the Wild West continue to have a chokehold on us.
While Western-inspired collections continue to pop up from contemporary fashion brands (see: Ivy Park’s iconic rodeo collection), sometimes you just can’t outdo the doer. Wrangler has been in the cowboy game since its birth in 1947, creating quality, durable denim donned by rodeo stars and ranchers alike. This year, they’re celebrating their 75th birthday with two collections that reflect their Western origins: the Wrangler Reissue collection, an archival drop of pieces inspired by vintage Wrangler, and the Leon Bridges x Wrangler collection, a collaboration with Grammy-winning soul country music star Leon Bridges.
The Wrangler Reissue collection draws inspiration from past designs, nodding to vintage Wrangler ads of decades past. Slim-fitting denim jackets and bootcut silhouettes shine throughout, further referencing Wrangler’s cowboy roots. Standout pieces include a full denim suit covered in comic book graphics and a red unisex zip-up jacket.
The Leon Bridges x Wrangler collaboration combines Wrangler’s quality designs with Bridges’ Texan flair (Fort Worth, what up?t). Fun fact: Bridges was actually discovered while wearing Wrangler jeans, so their relationship and mutual interest goes way back. This extensive apparel collection includes 29 unique pieces, including jackets, vests, jeans, graphic tees, and button-down shirts. Hints of the 70s are seen in the wide-leg denim silhouettes, ringer t-shirts, and printed collared shirts.
