CNK Spotlight: 13 Small Black-Owned Businesses We’re Shopping for Black History Month 2024
As another Black History Month comes to a close, we like to spend time reflecting on our culture, our ancestors, and the impacts we have made on the world. Of course we celebrate all things Black all-year-round, but we couldn’t let the month go by without sharing and supporting some of our favorite brands and entrepreneurs like we do best.
We’re bringing back our CNK Spotlight with a special Black History Month edition with 13 small, Black-Owned brands we have been loving and shopping recently. From clothing and accessories, to stationary, hair care, cookware, and vitamins, these brands have been consistently in our carts or we’re trying out for the first time. Esh Collective is an Atlanta-based brand that features clothing, jewelry, natural skincare, teas, and homegrown bouquets designed by Tasha Hussey.
Be Rooted
Jasmin Foster founded her stationery brand, Be Rooted, as a space where women of color can see themselves where they hadn’t before. Their products inspire customers to explore their inner muse and celebrate themselves.
Lorvae
After years of collecting various shades, De’arra Taylor felt compelled to create a sunglass brand that encapsulates her adoration for sunglasses. LORVAE embodies self-expression, individuality and creativity. Each piece was carefully curated with quality materials for durability, and designed to help you exude your inner baddie on any day.
The Doux
The Doux is an award-winning brand of super-fresh, texture-focused solutions founded by hairstylist, Maya Smith, and inspired by her love for The Culture. She developed a range of simple, multi-functional formulas designed to put an end to the complicated regimens and conflicting information that are shattering Black Women’s confidence.
The Better Brand
The Better Brand's foundation rests upon creating tangible pieces of clothing that reflect one's desire to be a "better" version of themselves. They strive to create timeless pieces that can be worn by the individuals that will go on to change the current contracts of today’s world for a better tomorrow.
Inclusive Randomness
Inclusive Randomness is a pin-back button company based in Houston Texas. The buttons are inspired by Black culture and created by a Black woman name Nzingah after she started to collect buttons after President Obama’s Inauguration. After years of not finding more buttons that inspired her, she decided to design her own.
Bee Blunt
Bee Blunt is inspired and curated from the legacy of our rich past and culture. Cultural Icons of style and grace that have been the blueprint of classic style of black culture. Founder Portia Blunt is able to tell the rich American classic story through the lens of black American culture.
The Plant Project
Making things & making memories are truly what Husband & Wife duo, Carlos and Bree, are all about. The Plant Project is more than a plant oasis. It’s a place where a strong community grows as well, a safe place to talk about race and other difficult topics. Their guiding tenant is making a hometown impact through uplifting diversity with design and style. They’re focused on ensuring that everyone has “a seat at the table”, no matter their skin color, opinions, body shape and size, background, age, or religion.

Best Life Organics is a bath and body company based outside of Washington DC. Founded in 2018, they harness the power of natural and non-toxic ingredients to create bodycare products that help everyday people achieve healthy and glowing skin.
Eeni Edit
Eeni is an eclectic fictional fashionista and globetrotter. She's about style, positive vibes and wanderlust. What started as sharing art on instagram, grew into a lifestyle brand that offers paper goods, apparel and accessories all featuring the eponymous illustration and a healthy dose of black girl magic.
CRUXGG
CRUXGG®, a collaboration between CRUX® and Bronx-based culinary collective Ghetto Gastro, makes kitchen essentials for everyone who’s plugged into the world beyond their kitchen. Every piece of the collection is designed to uplift and celebrate The Bronx, and other places like it, as an unsung driver of global culture.

Ditching tradition, founder Brianna Arps set out in October 2021 to introduce a new standard: longer-lasting, skin-nurturing, earth-friendly blends that give subpar scents, questionable ingredients and wasteful packaging the side eye.
