Adidas is dedicated to the sustainable shoe movement.

Earlier this year, the adidas Made to Be Remade Ultraboosts made one of our April Hot Lists. While we loved the Primeknit texture, chunky Boost midsole, and dye-free cream upper, the shoe’s production method impressed us the most.

Those Ultraboosts were made with 100% recyclable materials, enabling adidas to launch a second life sneaker program. Everything from the uppers to soles to adhesive binding is completely recyclable. Once the shoes are worn out, adidas takes them back and deconstructs them for materials, creating a closed-loop recycled shoe program. Owners simply use their smart phone to scan the QR code on the tongue and adidas walks them through the return process.

This fall, the three stripes brand is adding another silhouette to the Made to Be Remade sneakHER family. This TERREX Free Hiker sports the same ultra-bright white cream color and Boost soles. The shoe stops just above the ankle, providing necessary support for light outdoor hikes. The repellant Primeknit uppers give the shoes a sock-like tight fit. The Made to Be Remade QR code is seen on the tongue and TERREX is printed on the outer ankle tabs.
