Whenever streetwear brands make an impact on their industry and respective communities it’s always worth noting. For the past 17 years, Dutch brand Patta has continued to make an impact within the sneaker and streetwear space and has lived by it’s mantra of doing things ‘out of love and necessity rather than profit and novelty.’ Their latest collaboration with the Swoosh highlights both Black and Brown creatives and their journey’s that often lead to self discovery and belief.
The Patta x Nike Air Max 1 ‘Monarch’ remains true to the AM1 aesthetic with staple material choices. A white leather and mesh upper is contrasted by hints of orange suede on the wavy mudguard, Swoosh, and eyestay. A mini-Swoosh has been embroidered into the mudguard’s front quarter. Dual-branded tongue tags and insoles complete the autumn-appropriate pair. Along with the sneakers, a 5-piece coordinating apparel and accessories collection will be dropping as well. Along with the AM1, the duo has also released 1 of 4 films that are part of a series titled ‘The Wave’ that explores the pillars of Patta through music, sport, and community. Director of all 4 films, Mahaneela, studied under Steve McQueen and aims to pay homage to the creative journey and showing other Black and Brown creatives that anything is possible.
