WE ALL HAVE A STORY.

If you have a number of sneaks in your closet, it can be hard to pick just one. For many who have been drawn to sneaker culture and the shoes that occupy quite a bit of space in our lives, there's usually more behind our favorite pickup than just a fly colorway. If you dig deeper, you can discover that certain sneakers have stories, life experiences, and a history that often is more about a connection to the owner than the actual shoe.

IF YOU HAD TO PICK ONE SHOE, WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

That concept alone was the inspiration behind this new series. If you had to pick one shoe, what would it be and why? That's a question that can breed so many answers, but only one will really rise to the surface. We're all about experiences here in CNKDaily Land and, for us, the stories behind the shoes are a testiment to the power of sneakers, proof that the impact can go from sole to soul and, without fail, they remind us that no matter our differences, we all have a story to tell.

Continuing our Sneaker Story series I decided to talk about a sneaker that has meant a lot to me growing up in Chicago. It has been a staple in my closet for as long as I can remember. As most of you may or may not know I am an Editor here at CNKDaily and I recently started working in advertising but I've always had a love for shoes, just ask my mom.

MY SNEAKER STORY

I really have a strong love for the Jordan 1 "Bred" because it's just a Chicago colorway but the AF1 are super special because I got a chance to be creative and design them myself. and just reminisce on my love for the low top. My mother has always had a huge influence on me growing up. My mom was heavy into hip hop and R&B music and she was also into clothing like Tommy Hilfiger jogging suits and what not and it just passed on to me. I remember being in like 6th or 7th grade and having these pair of low top AF1 that were all white with a dark denim swoosh. Those were one of my favorites along with the all white pairs my mom would get me every school year. My junior year of high school Nike was releasing all the heat that summer my favorites were this ombre turquoise pair that I got early. Fast forward 10 years later the AF1 low is still a staple to me.

Nike is currently celebrating 35 years of the AF1 and I had the opportunity to make a custom pair and I was beyond excited to give this a shot. I got my sneaks dipped in pink dye and they were wavy if I just wore them like that. However, I wanted to add some new swooshes so I went with both a grey and white sequined swoosh. I also put a white sequined swoosh on the inner portion of my shoe as well. I wanted to make a shoe that looked interesting but also one that I would wear! Behold my new baes below.

I look forward to being an influence on my kids life in the future like my mom continues to play in mine. Maybe one day they'll have a love for the all white AF1 low just like me.
