Sneaker Diary: Spring Cleaning With The Air Jordan 1 "Orchid Mist"

Spring is my favorite season by far. Not only is it a fresh start to take another trip around the sun (AKA my birthday is March 14th), but I take advantage of the full opportunity to begin transitioning my closet. Yep, spring cleaning is in full effect. Spring cleaning for a sneaker lover is different than your ordinary “out with the old, in with the new” process. Personally, I see life in so much color and it excites me to bring out the colorful kicks to add some flavor into the mix. Typically, in the fall/winter SZN months you see more muted tones and not so much of the bright whites and pastels. March is a great month to start bringing the colors out of the closet.

I have to admit I’m not the biggest fan of pastel pinks, but I will rock a purple. When Jordan Brand announced the Season of Her Air Jordan 1 Collection, I instantly thought “TAKE MY MONEY”. The Air Jordan 1 is one of my favorite silhouettes of all time AND the colorways were dope AF (and plentiful). The Jumpman found the perfect way to kick off their first women’s collection and I am a fan. Why not kick off spring cleaning with a beautiful Air Jordan 1 from the Season of Her Collection?

The SNKRS App actually gave me a win when attempting to purchase this AJ1. The real hard decision was deciding the colorway because there were about 10 to choose from. I opted to cop the “Orchid Mist” hue because the purple stood out and I have always been a fan of a lavender shade. The first thing I noticed was the box. Call it strange, but some of us sneaker enthusiasts feel that the box is an extension of the shoe (and we love a cool box). The Season of Her AJ1 box was all white with Air Jordan branding, not like the standard black box with big Swoosh branding.

We (ladies) have been asking for something different for a while now. The fact that one of my favorite brands created a collection just for me, in perfect seasonal colorways, had me on cloud 9.

The “Orchid Mist’ hue was perfect for dressing up an outfit or dressing down. The satin and suede mix served a feminine touch along with way more comfortability then I anticipated. I paired my AJ1 with some black tights, a white button up, and a satin bomber. White button ups are staple pieces in a ladies’ closet because they are extremely versatile. They can be worn to work, date night, out for happy hour, and beyond. The weather in Houston right now is so up and down, therefore the light satin bomber was just right for a cool day. The playful floral design had hints of purple tones which aligned with my sneaker choice. I like to call the look “street but sweet”. Just like me. (LOL)

For spring cleaning, I would recommend pairing comfortable tops that you can layer a light jacket with and some colorful kicks. The more vibrant the sneakers, the less busy your apparel can be. The Air Jordan Season of Her collection is still up for grabs in various colorways. Treat yourself this season and add some colors into your world. What are you looking forward to in the upcoming Jordan collection?
