Nike is going big for the Air Force 1. Given it's history of inspiration for athletes, sneaker lovers and entertainers alike (ex: "GIVE ME TWOOOO PAIR!"), it's only natural for the Swoosh to flex it's collaborative muscles and provide a distinct homage to the shoe that essentially became a cultural icon. After our trek out West to hit up Complexcon earlier this month and engage in Nike’s Makers Studio experience, we got another chance to get our custom Force on back in Chicago. Given that this year marks the 35th anniversary of the Force, Nike decided to bring the customizing talents to the Windy City where the love for the iconic AF1 is rooted in our DNA and you too can join in on the fun.

This weekend, Nike Chicago is celebrating an unconditional love for the famed Air Force 1 with a 4-day pop-up where consumers can shop the new AF-100 collection. What makes this even more special is that the AF-100 space is presented by RSVP Gallery, a staple in Chi-Town, which has housed the likes of Don C, Virgil Abloh, and Aleali May.

Yesterday, we got an inside look at the experience and a chance to customize our our Force. Check out our time via the slides below:

From a custom dip dye to specialized stenciling and an option to sew additions right on the shoe, we were given another chance to curate our ultimate Force. Given that this is my favorite shoe, you'll see more of my pastel pink creation next week as we revive our My Sneaker Story feature here on CNK. For those of you planning on hitting up the activation, it includes a special DIY customization and personalization section, epic giveaways, special guest appearances and more. Also, those of you who make the trek to RSVP Gallery will also get face-to-face with both Don C and Virgil Abloh as they lead design workshops to help inspire creatives.

There will also be limited-edition tees with custom graphics designed by students from the Chicago CRED program. These tees will be available throughout the weekend as a special giveaway exclusively at the AF-100 Gallery.

What’s an AF-100 Gallery without an grail wall? Inside the space, you'll find an Air Force 1 exhibit that features some of the most iconic AF1s over the years, including a few that are near and dear to Chicago such as the Air Force 1 Mid LE "Chi Town" (2002), Nike Lunar Force 1 "Fuse City Chicago" from the City Pack (2012), Air Force 1 '03 LE "Chi Town" (2003), and Air Force 1 '03 LE "Chi Town" (2004). I definitely saw a few on display that I copped back in the day!
