Balmain's Olivier Rousteing Is Taking His Talents To Nike

Balmain designer and rising fashion star Olivier Rousteing announced his upcoming collaboration with Nike Lab over the weekend, and now, we've got first images. Following in the footsteps of Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci, Rousteing is yet another high fashion designer tapped to work with the Swoosh on a collaborative collection dubbed the 'Football Nouveau' Collection.

The collab - inspired by Olivier's love for football (not quite sure if this is American Football or European Soccer) - the men's and women's offerings are designed to meet performance needs while appealing to the aesthetic senses of athletes and consumers alive.  Iconic football designs are reimagined and paired with luxe gold finishes and a tailored appeal.

While the collaboration is sure to boast appeal due to Balmain x  Rousteing's celebrity presence, Rousteing's goal is all about ensuring authenticity. Each piece in the collection corresponds directly with the sport-style models inspired by Nike Football's four silos: Mercurial, Magista, Hypervenom and Tiempo.  According to NikeLab Senior Footwear Innovation Design Director Nate Jobe:

Olivier is meticulous about the details, with a passion for finding clever ways to embellish existing structures. This obsession with finishing manifests itself especially well in the Magista and the Mercurial. In each model, we’ve embroidered patterns into the Flyknit for the first time, which creates a completely new expression of the technology.
